We haven’t done one of these product recommendations for so long. Recently, however, we’ve had comments and emails from people asking if we can advise on any cool items they can use to bake in lockdown. Sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin especially if you’re new to baking. Hopefully our list of baking tools / supplies will make life sweeter.
Facing yet another set of government restrictions doesn’t mean that you can’t have a bit of colour in your day. These vibrant rainbow cupcakes are the perfect baking essential. They’re bound to add a smile to someone’s face.
02: Mini Loaf Cases
We love mini loafs and if the favourite lockdown bake of 2020 (Banana Bread) stays strong then these cute little loaf cases are going to be handy. Plus because you can make individual loafs you can also add different toppings to each. Add a drizzle of salted caramel to one for someone with an extra sweet tooth. Or why not stir in chocolate chips before baking to a few others?
03: Fun Sprinkle Mix
Sprinkles and sprinkle mixes are always the quickest way to decorate a home made bake. They also add an instant pop of colour or a cool shape; perfect for themed family parties. Another amazing thing about sprinkles is that you can add different styles together to create your own custom mix!
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a good vanilla bean paste. This is definitely one of the best we’ve ever used. It’s packed with fragrant and tasty flecks of vanilla. Try adding this to chocolate bakes too for a subtle depth of flavour!
05: Mixing Bowl
A good mixing bowl is always going to be a baking essential. It’s perfect if you use a hand held mixer or if you’re having to rub ingredients together. Mason Cash bowls are our favourite because they’re pretty sturdy and their wide and low shaped meaning no awkward mixing!
06: Rainbow Candles
It might sound crazy, but making sure you always have fun cake candles is a must. They are always the very last thing anyone remembers to buy. Last minute cupcakes for birthday plans that went awry? Add some sprinkles and candles for an instant party treat!
07: Lemon Extract
Lemon bakes are pretty much a crowd pleaser. The zesty lemon cuts through the sugar in icing glazes or creamy fillings and ends up being refreshing. Add this lemon extract to batter or to your next bowl of buttercream for a sweet yet tart taste.
This is the perfect cupcake piping set for beginners. There are some pretty cool basic nozzles to help create some cute buttercream topped cupcakes. You can also use them to pipe borders and details onto cakes too.
