Blush Pink Semi-Naked Wedding Cake with Fondant Frills!

Blush pink semi-naked wedding cake with white fondant frills by Juniper Cakery

We love a sun-filled late spring wedding… the full on florals, soft and luxurious colour palettes and, of course, the pretty wedding cakes! This weekend’s wedding centrepiece was perhaps the perfect springtime cake! Romantic blush pink, white ruffles, and glittering gold sequin drips! Plus there was a touch of the Parisienne… Oh la la!

This 3 tiered beauty was delivered and all set up at Rise Hall (20 minutes outside of Hull in Yorkshire) on a wonderfully sun-drenched day ready for a weekend of celebration! The bottom tier (our popular Strawberries & Champagne flavour) was adorned with so many textured fondant ruffles. We love creating edible frills as they are an amazing way to add drama to a pretty design.

The top 2 tiers are both delicious chocolate based flavours (Belgian Chocolate and also Cookies & Cream). Each feature a blush pink Madagascan vanilla infused buttercream finished with glistening gold sequin drips on alternate sides. Golden sequin drips are pretty much one of our signature and most requested decors for semi-naked cakes. They’re an amazing way to add a little extra glitz!

Look at that sweet little Eiffel Tower cookie! We’re noticing a trend this year with hidden objects on cakes that tell a story about the couple or hint at an inside joke. Paris was a special place for our happy couple, Amy and Tom, so they requested a Tour d’Eiffel cookie to be nestled on the middle tier. It’s a Madagascan vanilla sugar cookie finished with gold detailing and a blush pink heart. Doesn’t it add a fabulously personal touch?

Time to look at all those glorious edible ruffles! Aren’t they gorgeous? We create each ruffle individually by cutting, thinning and frilling every single piece. Obviously, this takes some time, but the results are worth it! Fondant frills are always a pretty addition to any cake. We like to make ours extra textured too. These are a sleek and bright white, but we’ve crafted edible ruffles in blush and even omrbé sky blue!

To decorate we added our popular Strawberry Milkshake macarons in plain white and blush finished with luxurious 24k gold leaf! We also nestled blush pink meringues in a light cotton candy / vanilla flavour. Sweet little patisserie style treats are perfect for semi-naked cakes! Madeleines, cream puffs, eclairs also make lovely edible decorations!

How gorgeous are the florals? All flowers (including the white roses on the cake) were by the talented and super hard-working Floral Lounge team in Kingston-upon-Hull! The candlebras were festooned with blush roses, white astilbe (they’re so feathery and pretty), giant pristine white hydrangeas, ivy and pale pink peonies.

Ah, look at that lovely closed pink peony! Every single year we can’t wait for peony season to start. Sadly, they never last for long (around a month?).

We also created two cute little Eiffel Tower cookies just for the bride and groom to enjoy… complete with mini hearts iced in blush, which matched the cake perfectly.

Event styling by Cherry Williams Party Hire

The luxe event styling was by the wonderful Cherry Williams Party Hire in Beverley! We love photographing styled chair shots and this was such a beauty. Subtle and glam with a soft blush satin bow on a Chiavari chair finished with a diamanté brooch!

Congratulations to Amy and Tom! We hope you and your guests enjoyed an amazing day in the spring sunshine at Rise Hall!
