City Chic Bridal Shower Photoshoot at Radisson Blu Hotel Leeds

We’re so excited to share this pretty bridal shower photoshoot that we had the honour of designing a small collection of cakes and cupcakes for! Earlier in the year the fabulous Minihaha from Luxe by Minihaha got in contact with us about collaborating on a styled shoot together for Ultimate Wedding Magazine. Once we saw her work and the stunning mood board that she sent us (full of glamorous golds, corals and pinks, heavy florals and glistening jewelled elements) we jumped at the chance to work with her! The theme was ‘City Chic’ which incorporated fashion influences with a stylish city vibe.

City chic bridal shower photoshoot!

For the shoot we created two cakes and a some gilded magnolia flower cupcakes. The smaller two tier design was heavily inspired by the amazing lace on some of Marchesa‘s designs. We were so inspired by the delicate pearl beading and soft 3D-like appliqué blossoms. We kept the bottom tier simple with one of our favourite on-trend techniques… gold sequins! To the side a hand made blush David Austin rose was added with pale green rose leaves and ice pink berry clusters.

Our main design for the bridal shower shoot was the romantic beauty above. Three ice pink tiers featuring a white tufted centre edged with a gold acanthus leaf frame. Inspired by European city Rococo architecture, elements of urban nature and gorgeous fashion detailing this incredibly pretty cake is perfect for on-trend weddings or even bridal showers!

The addition of the golden bees was inspired by some amazing city locations such as the Waldorf Astoria in NYC and Fortnum & Mason in London keeping bees (seriously… check this and this out) on their rooftops. We loved this idea of urban nature so much and felt that it added a fabulous quirkiness to the gold painted Rococo frame! Of course, we absolutely love bees too.

Fashion is so easily linked to city life so it was an obvious choice when it came to adding a few extra design elements to this cake. We played with a few different ideas, but ultimately we adored the idea of a white tufted centre with voluminous silk tulle veil softly pouffed over the top tier.

Alongside, we created some incredibly elegant and sweet cupcakes to match. Covered with bright white scalloped fondant and adorned with large sugar magnolia blooms and golden acanthus leaves these cupcakes would make perfect place setting favours! Of course, hundreds of these little beauties would look utterly breath-taking nestled together on a towering cupcake stand.

Choosing a City Chic inspired theme for your bridal shower, party or reception is perfect for on-trend events. You can take design inspiration from anything around you… intricate architectural detailing (balanced Georgian structures or romantic Rococo moulding), inner-city gardens, or lavish store designs (sleek marble looks or gold accents).

Our smaller Marchesa inspired cake featured hand-piped lace brush embroidery accented with edible sugar pearl beading. Delicate fondant appliqué blossoms were then dotted throughout the repeat design. The smaller white detailed tier was then paired with a glamorous gold sequin deep tier.

We played with a few floral ideas for this design from soft cherry blossom branches, our oversized sugar rose and our signature open peony. Finally we spotted the amazingly pretty David Austin Wildeve rose whilst compiling floral lists for our booked in weddings and we were sold. We created a Wildeve-inspired bloom in blush pink to perch on the top tier which we then paired with pale berries and soft green leaves.

This styled bridal shower shoot was such a pleasure to be a part of. It’s amazing to pull together the expertise and style of so many fantastic people in the industry too! Everything about this photoshoot was stunning from the venue to the florals.
