Pink Rose Festooned Wedding Cake!
22 Jul 2013 | by Juniper Cakery | 3 Comments | Categories: Our CakesWedding season is among us and at Juniper Cakery that means lovely, extravagant cakes! The latest wedding cake we’ve created is definitely no exception. We were asked to make a three tier pink and ivory cake covered in roses and edged with fondant pearls. To this we added a luxurious quilted board studded with edible pearl beads, a simple sateen bow finishing the board, a light yet fresh mid-tone pink and a subtle dusting of shimmer throughout.
This cake is festooned with sixty-three completely hand made sugar roses. Creating the roses consumed around eight to ten hours of work and approximately 1.5kg of custom coloured flower paste.
The cake itself is a soft vanilla sponge sandwiched with our own special white chocolate and vanilla pod buttercream, ganached in white chocolate and then iced with vanilla fondant (teamed with marzipan on the large bottom tier). We hand coloured and used a total of 9kg of fondant and around 2kg of marzipan / almond icing! Needless to say our arms got quite the workout!
This cake, despite being so labour intensive, was a treat for us to create from start to finish. It captures a lovely fresh yet romantic feel from the tones of pink to the soft look of the roses. We also loved the inclusion of our delicious white chocolate and vanilla buttercream between every layer! If only we could have enjoyed this cake for ourselves!
