What an amazing start to our year! We just found out that we’ve been shortlisted in the The UK Wedding Awards 2017! Best Wedding Cake Company category! How fabulous is that? We’re so excited to make the final list. We work incredibly hard on everything we design and create from dainty macaron favours to towering wedding centrepieces. Plus we LOVE what we do so it’s incredibly honouring to be nominated! Vote for Juniper Cakery here!

Anyway, because of this we thought we’d re-cap on some of the gorgeous wedding cakes we’ve created. Rococo adorned tiers, carefree naked and semi-naked cakes and glamorous modern designs.

Peony ruffle wedding cake by Juniper Cakery

This cake is a firm favourite. It also inspired our branding and logo! This four tiered beauty was created for a lovely couple who weren’t quite sure what they wanted from their wedding cake. BUT they had the most on-trend venue styling! We took details from their golden table runners, romantic colour palette, etc. The bottom tier features soft pink ruffled fondant. The rest of the cake is studded with gold edible sequins that topple down from the top. Three huge blush pink sugar peonies adorn the top with snowberries and peony leaves.

Rustic chalkboard wedding cake with white open peonies, peach blossoms and seeded eucalyptus by Juniper Cakery

We’ve been shortlisted!

Another definite favourite. We love the movement and light feeling of this rustic yet glam design. Our signature open peonies are our most requested sugar flower and this time we created them in a lovely white. They were then surrounded with blossoms, blackberries and seeded eucalyptus leaves we created. We also incorporated a bit of cake trend in the form of a subtle black chalkboard tier nestled between all the ruffles and florals!

Here’s one pretty in pink Rococo-inspired design. All tiers are a light ice pink that feature a golden acanthus leaf edged frame. We added small details to the frame in the form of tiny gilded bees too. Perched onto the edges of two tiers are sugar peonies surrounded by pale berries, white blossoms and sugar hydrangeas. For extra height we then added a silk bridal tulle to the very tip held in place with delicate sugar flowers.

This beautiful floral crown-inspired design was created for a couple marrying at the gorgeous Wrea Head Hall! All three bright white tiers were hand piped with tiny shimmering pearls that gradually clustered towards the top of the cake. The entire cake was then assembled on top of a false base in order for the all the sugar flowers to burst from underneath! Florals included… blush pink peonies with silver painted pistil centres and lavender hydrangeas. We also crafted Brunia berries, white ranunculus blooms, large white roses (to represent Yorkshire) and silver fern leaves (to represent New Zealand)!

Cherry pink semi-naked wedding cake by Juniper Cakery

This was one amazingly fragrant wedding cake! It was made for a fun-loving couple who absolutely loved anything cherry flavoured. Our brief was… anything with cherries, bright pink, semi-naked style and to surprise them on the big day! We ended up creating a vibrant Black Forest Gateau inspired cake with extra tall tiers. We smoothed a bright pink kirsch inspired buttercream around each tier. It was then adorned with fresh cherries, rosemary sprigs, pink roses, rose leaves and cherry inspired macarons (Sour Cherry and Cherry Ripple).

We loved this elegant wedding cake and really did not want to let it go! Created for a couple whose palette was white, gold and dark green. Its three tiers were extended with a separator full of gilded sugar Dogwood blossoms, dark hunter green leaves and golden berries. Each tier was then edged with ornate Rococo-inspired acanthus leaves and ferns. To add extra height and drama our large white roses were added to the top tier. Then surrounded by wired acanthus leaves, smaller Dogwood flowers and glistening fondant berries.

Autumn naked wedding cake by Juniper Cakery

Wedding cakes!

Naked cakes are still hugely popular when it comes to weddings! We created this rose adorned design for a couple who wanted an autumnal themed cake with an orange and coral colour palette. We finished it’s bare tiers with lots of florals and fruits from large bloom roses, thyme, rosemary, rose leaves, blueberries, sliced figs, physalis berries and sprigs of lavender!

Gold lace wedding cake by Juniper Cakery

Fit for a glamorous reception this gold and white wedding cake features oversized white sugar peonies with large diamanté centres! We added a little flourish with gold painted leaves extending out from the flurry of white florals perched on top too. Gilded leaves were also added around the base of the cake to create an almost lifted cake stand effect. We built the entire design on top of a hidden base before carefully wrapping a branch of golden sugar leaves around it. We then hand-piped royal icing peonies in a gold/lace style extending from the bottom tier upwards in the centre. This design took hours upon hours to finish from the sketch after sketch with various amendments, large handmade individually wired sugar peonies, multiple gold leaves and the intricate piped lacework.
